Live from the Fortune Brainstorm in Aspen

I'm at the Fortune Brainstorm, which is being blogged both officially and unofficially... They just announced, though, that nobody can take pictures of video. We wonder whether it may have something to do with the picture of Michael Eisner in a Mickey Mouse shirt that Joi Ito took two years ago.

UPDATE: Ross Mayfield asked a few of the bloggers present to answer four questions being asked of all participants.

My answers:

1.Q: What is the most pressing problem to solve? Why?
A: Apathy, i.e., the lack of concern some humans have for the plight of other humans.  It is thanks to apathy that human rights violations, poverty, and many disease epidemics are not properly addressed worldwide.

2. Q: Your biggest fear?
A: Fear itself (yes I know this is not original). Because fear breeds hatred.
Fear is related to ignorance which in turn is related to apathy.

3. Q: Three global leaders who will set next decade’s course?
A: Hu Jintao, George H.W. Bush, and the next president of the U.S. That said, I hope and believe that the world's citizens, by rejecting apathy, will do more than ever before to shape the future course of human society - and not leave it to these three people who don't deserve to have so much power.

4. Q: Your most cherished value?
A: Two: Empathy (the opposite of apathy) and honesty.  Both are essential to building a global society grounded on respect for the intrinsic worth of all human beings.

That picture of Eisner is wierd. Looks like he is planning an escape route.(map in hand)

Wow. Good answers. I like it when R Conversation gets political about countries and government other than just China's.

Couldn't agree more with you than as regards apathy. Like the great man said: "go back to bed American, your government has figured it out."
