Heya Rebecca, sorry I missed you in the Jing! So this Facebook story: The Times of London, which the TechCrunch piece points to, has already run a second piece quoting a Facebook official rather vociferously denying that there are any plans for an acquisition in China. The original Times article was a rather slipshod bit of reporting, repeating that erroneous Reuters story about Facebook having "recently" registered at .cn domain name (that happened in March of 2005) and repeating completely unsubstantiated rumors that appeared in the Chinese press. TechCrunch is actually even more misleading than the Jane Macartney story: If you read her story, even though it's got mistakes, at least you can see how insubstantial the rumor is from the way the Zhanzuo spokesperson handles questions.

Hey there Kaiser. I told Jane when she called me that she should talk to you because there were serious questions about whether the deal was really happening. I made it clear that I had no new information beyond the reports, which you had poked some major holes in. Guess she didn't...
