This article only refers to direct control of the internet.
What it fails to address is that numerous agenda-seeking groups that are controlling the net indirectly. By linking to each other's site, by putting high ratings on each other's video, they give their websites a higher chance that they will score a high page link on search engines.
By manipulating the search engine, they are manipulating and thus controlling the information available on the internet - indirectly.
