Next week's Blogging, Journalism, and Credibility conference is getting a lot of attention, criticism, interest, etc. It seems to have sparked some new controversies and debates, epecially this one - now raging hot over at Zephyr Teachout's blog.
I plan to do a long post soon about the reasons why I think this conference is important (to me, anyway), responding to the many criticisms of its format, and rounding-up some of the blogosphere discussions that are linking to the conference blog.
Before I do that, I need to help coordinate and post two excellent papers coming in this weekend from Bill Mitchell of Poynter and Jay Rosen of Pressthink, plus write a book review of Bonnie Anderson's Newsflash which is due on Tuesday for the Nieman Reports. In the midst of all this, I'll be gathering my thoughts for a post which will go up here and on the conference blog at some point in the next few days.
I think before any conference happens, you need to clean up the ethics mess that is your own house.
