Frank Dai reports at Global Voices that blogs hosted on the U.S.-based service Blog-City are now blocked in China, joining Typepad (which hosts this blog), Blogger, Blogsome, and a list of others.
Read all the details on his post. He concludes:
Now Chinese Bloggers are facing a serious problem of where to blog, especially those who want to speak freely. More and more foreign BSPs [blog service providers] are being blocked, such as Blogsome, Typepad and Blogspot. Almost all the BSPs in Mainland China have a rigid system of censoring “bad words” which are considered to be politically or pornographically sensitive. If hosted on independent domain server, the blogger need to register their personal information. For bloggers who want to blog freely and securely, they can resort to “Adoptablog” program.
The Firewall is expanding. Who will be the next?
That's according to a Chinese blogger.
So far I have managed to find a couple of ways to get around the ban of the "great firwall" and therefore I am back to blogging at almost full capacity.
The only people who aren't able to access the site, are those who don't know how to use a proxy browser.
If you are a Blog-City blogger, email me and I will help you get around the ban as well.

Also, it seems the ban on Blog-City was came at the petition of several readers from the China Daily.

Are Typepad blogs blocked in all provinces in China? I have received email from a Chinese reader from Guangdong who can access to my typepad blog without using proxy.
