GZ Expat

Sounds as though you are going to talk about some interesting subjects...is censorship among them (you didn't mention it in the post)? Please don't tell me you are going to go to Shanghai and play by the rules, are you?

Rebecca MacKinnon

GZ Expat, I can't imagine that subject won't come up and I certainly won't be avoiding it. I have not been informed of any rules one way or the other - at least not by the conference organizers.

Fascinating! I just read some of your other posts on Chinese blogging filters and such--practically speaking, to what degree would a foreigner experience these limitations when using the Internet in China? Would it be possible, for instance, to read this blog? And are the regulations any less rigid on university campuses? I will be leaving this Sunday for a semester at Peking University followed by another in Shanghai; if it's not too much trouble, I'd love to pick your brain a little before I leave.

Misoponia...I cannot read Rebecca's blog at home through my internet service. But...I can read her blog through a proxy server...and through our lease line at work.

Rebecca...Give 'em hell. Thanks.
